  • Thursday Time Trial

Time: 7:00am – 8:30am

Where: The Boatshed, end of Ferry Rd Glebe

Trip Leader: Andrew andrew@sydneyuniversitycanoeclub.com.au

What to expect: This is the best 10km time trial circuit in the harbour; it starts and ends from the pontoon. This self-paced time trial is best enjoyed in some of the club’s faster boats but can be done in the double Mirage, often faster than most solo paddlers can make it around the course. You need to be reasonably experienced both as a paddler and in the general harbour as you may well spend part of the lap on your own once you know the course.

The route: You’ll head out under Anzac Bridge taking in the sights of the Harbour Bridge to the east and pass Balmain ferry terminal on the west. You’ll head through the Birchgrove graveyard, rounding out the top marker will bring you around the north side of Goat Island with spectacular views of the bridge. You’ll return to complete the entire section of Blackwattle Bay. For regular paddlers, we’ll have a monthly handicap race. GPS enabled watch and Strava account highly encouraged.

Time: 3:30pm – 5:00pm (Winter)

Trip Leader: Matt matt@sydneyuniversitycanoeclub.com.au

What to expect: We’ll follow the exact same route as the Thursday morning time trial but we’ll go harder in generally more choppy and busier (afternoon) conditions striving to beat our personal bests. Suited to fit and active paddlers wanting to get serious about their paddling. We’ll join the Friday social paddlers on the pontoon post paddle but our drinks will taste better!

  • Friday Afternoon Social Paddle
